Marble Installation

Wesley Preston Restoration | Coachella Valley, CA

Marble installation is the precision process of cutting, setting, and finishing natural marble slabs or tile into floors, countertops, walls, and shower surrounds. Done correctly, it delivers a seamless, level surface with tight seams and consistent veining — the foundation for both the stone’s beauty and its long-term durability.

What Does the Marble Installation Process Involve?

Every marble installation begins with a detailed evaluation of the subfloor or wall surface, checking for level, moisture, and structural soundness before any stone arrives. Slabs or tiles are laid out dry first so seams, veining, and pattern flow can be reviewed and approved before anything is cut. We then make precision cuts for edges, corners, sink or fixture cutouts, and outlets using diamond-blade wet saws that keep dust down and edges clean. The stone is set into thin-set mortar or an appropriate setting bed, checked continuously for level and lippage, and spaced for grout joints. Once cured, joints are grouted, excess is cleaned off, and the surface is polished and sealed with a penetrating sealer to guard against staining. In our desert climate, we also account for thermal movement and humidity swings so the finished installation stays stable for decades.

Popular Marble Installation Applications

  • Kitchen and bathroom countertops
  • Foyer, hallway, and living area flooring
  • Shower surrounds and bathroom walls
  • Fireplace surrounds and hearths
  • Covered patio accents and outdoor kitchens (sealed and maintained)

Because marble is a natural stone, no two installations look exactly alike — vein patterns, color variation, and slab bookmatching are all part of the finished look. We source from reputable stone yards and can help you select slabs that complement your home’s existing finishes, cabinetry, and lighting throughout Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, La Quinta, and the surrounding Coachella Valley.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does Professional Marble Installation Take?

Most residential marble installations take two to five days depending on the size of the area and the complexity of the layout. A single vanity top can often be completed in a day, while a full countertop or room-sized floor takes several days to allow for cutting, setting, grouting, and curing.

Is marble a good choice for Coachella Valley homes?

Yes, marble performs well indoors in the desert as long as it is properly sealed, since it stays naturally cool underfoot and holds up in air-conditioned interiors. It is less suited to unsealed exterior use in direct sun and extreme heat without the right protective sealer and maintenance plan.

Do you install marble on existing floors or only new construction?

We install marble in both new construction and remodels, including over existing subfloors once they are properly leveled and prepped.
