Mexican paver installation is the process of setting authentic Saltillo or terracotta tile into a prepared bed of mortar or sand, then grouting and sealing the surface for lasting protection. Properly installed, these clay pavers add warm, rustic color and texture to patios, pool decks, entryways, and interior floors.

Are Mexican Pavers Durable in Desert Heat?

Yes, when installed and sealed correctly, Mexican pavers hold up well to Coachella Valley heat and sun. Fired clay is naturally dense and thermally stable, so it doesn’t warp or crack from temperature swings the way some synthetic materials can. The bigger consideration is moisture and UV exposure over time: unsealed or poorly sealed pavers can fade, absorb stains, and develop surface efflorescence faster in intense sun. We address this at installation by using a setting bed and grout appropriate for outdoor exposure, allowing proper expansion joints where needed, and finishing with a UV-stable sealer designed for exterior clay. On covered patios and shaded walkways, pavers tend to hold their color even longer. With routine resealing every one to three years and basic care, Mexican pavers installed by our team typically perform for decades outdoors in our climate, and even longer indoors.
